Karl Johan
www.myspace.com/karljohanmusic
( ;D --> Karl Johan is the new Swedish wonder boy of electronic music. In less than a year he has gone from handing out demos at Germany’s Fusion festival to completing his self-titled debut album for Spiral Trax. In the meantime he has provided slamming remixes and singles for labels such as Tribal Vision, Spiral Trax and Plastik Park, gaining support from DJs such as Jerome Isma-ae, D-Nox, Glenn Morrison, Tocadisco, Hernan Cattaneo, James Harcourt, Eddie Halliwell, Fergie, 16bitlolitas, Meat Katie, Gareth Emery, Slater, Pena, Nick Warren, Tim Davison, Jamie Stevens, Parham and Flash Brothers, as well as reaching a top position in Beatport’s Progressive House Chart. Looking back at the last twelve months it is amazing to have been able to witness Karl Johan’s progression into a fully-fledged producer defining his own unique style of progressive- and tech-house with a tough techy edge.)

( ;D --> Optimo refers both to the Glaswegian DJ duo of J.D. Twitch and J.G. Wilkes and, as Optimo Espacio, to the club night they've run in their native city since 1997. Twitch (born Keith McIvor) and Wilkes are the next generation of the cross-pollination that flowered at the Hacienda in the Madchester era circa 1988 and 1989, when it suddenly became socially acceptable to like both indie guitar pop and electronic dance genres like house and hi-NRG disco. Their northern souls shine with 'Hateful', a submerged sounding roller coaster that brings forth their remarkable tact for balancing unnerving frequencies with the bliss of modern Pop songwriting. Other highlights include their cover of the classic Jimi Tenor tune 'Take Me Baby' for which they went the extra mile by enlisting Tenor to sing his own song; and the closes with the single, 'Add This Song', one of the album's true shining moments - the emotional persuasiveness of Daniel Agust's voice will caress anyone through this blissful Electro-fied opus!)
