Röyksopp
royksopp.com
( ;D --> ( ;D --> Named after a kind of fungi, Röyksopp was formed in 1998 by Norwegians Torbjörn Brundtland and Svein Berge who delivered a new kind of electronica with their debut album Melody A.M. in 2001.
The sound was a big hit with the advertising world and tracks were co-opted for a variety of products including a Apple, an insurance group and broadcasters in the US and the UK.
With their taste for experimentation extending to their videos, they won an MTV Europe award for "Remind Me" from their second album The Understanding.
The band's skills as producers have been utilized with remixes for Beck, Coldplay and Peter Gabriel and they were invited to do a compilation album for the Back To Mine series in 2006.)

Raymond Watts (PIG)
heswining.com
( ;D --> Raymond Watts(PIG) inhabits a genre of one. How to begin to describe it? We can start with KMFDM, since the unforgettable Englishman behind it – Raymond Watts – was a founder member. Once you have a certain combination of hard rock, soulful electro-pop and funk in your head, you can introduce Foetus: big band, blues and classical samples pounded into place by some behemoth of machinery – but PIG zigs where Foetus zags. JG Thirlwell was a frequent collaborator and shaper of the early sound; he appears on ‘Peoria‘ and ‘Sick City‘ and produced the first couple of albums. Accordingly, Watts took a brief turn in the Foetus live band, and contributed to the first two Steroid Maximus albums.)

Schaft
( ;D --> Schaft was a Japanese musical side project whose main members were Maki Fuji of Soft Ballet and Hisashi Imai of Buck-Tick. Schaft can be thought of as being a supergroup in that Maki and Imai formed the core of the group and a rotating roster of collaborators, who are well-known within their genres, were brought in to work on various songs. Raymond Watts of PIG was Schaft's most recurring collaborator, having contributed to half the songs on their debut album and toured with the band. Maki Fujii (Soft Ballet) and Hisashi Imai (Buck-Tick) originally conceived Schaft as a one-off monikor for a song. The track was for a 1991 Japanese compilation titled "Dance 2 Noise 001". After a few sporadic live dates, they decided to bring Raymond Watts (Pig, KMFDM) into the line-up and record a full album. Collaborations with Autechre, Coil, Meat Beat Manifesto and others brought a cult following to the project. 1994 was their only full year of activity. However in 2001, Schwein surfaced as a somewhat unofficial continuation of Schaft.)

Having self-released two long sold out records and with their ‘Surge’ track gracing the first ever 12” from the label arm of the incredibly well respected Electronic Explorations; they’ve achieved something of a cult following completely on the merits of their output. Bringing together their collected musical experience, ?kkord channel a sound that’s a hybrid of the electronic musics its members were raised on and their four track debut EP for Houndstooth is a further distillation of their passions for sonic minimalism and sound design.)

Here it was that Tim Simenon, touring the 'Back To Light' album, met his support band that featured drummer Roman Lugmayr and keyboard player Georg Lichtenauer. The three hit it off, so much so that Tim relocated from Amsterdam to the Austrian capital. Here the missing piece for the Ghost Capsules jigsaw was found in singer Laura Gomez, who Tim had booked to play at one of his club nights. Stimming

www.stimming.org/
( ;D --> Few people bring a truly original sound to house music. At a relatively young age, Hamburg’s Martin Stimming did just that, demonstrating a sophisticated yet accessible sound that’s beyond his years.
Two years after hooking up with Solomun’s Diynamic Music, his 2008 breakthrough hit Una Pena made the electronic world sit up and take notice, and before long acclaimed labels like Freerange, liebe*detail, Buzzin’ Fly, Green and Poker Flat were snapping up his work. 2009 saw him release his immaculate debut album Reflections to great acclaim, cementing his reputation as one of the most exciting new producers of his generation. His second album, Liquorice, eschews the normal kick-clap/snare template by and large to explore more interesting and progressive territories, but always with that trademark magpie-like sense of texture, emotion and discovery. His productions are filled with a multitude of his own unique, charismatic field recordings, and he never uses the same sample more than once.)

Beacon

( ;D --> The best music is music that can make you think as well as feel, sounds that are as visceral as they are cerebral. And the best love songs are those that acknowledge that the power of human sexuality can be just as terrifying as it is thrilling, that the passion that leads us to love can also lead us into dark, dark places. Welcome to the world of Brooklyn duo Beacon, who explore the dark side of the sweet melody with a sound that’s as seductive as it is subtly discomfiting. The duo – Thomas Mullarney III and Jacob Gossett – met at Brooklyn’s Pratt Institute, where they were studying sculpture and painting respectively. As with many other great musical partnerships, this one involves two disparate sets of influences coming together to form a sound that’s both fresh and exciting. They fuse the deceptively sweet melodies of R&B with an intoxicating undercurrent of darkness, drawing on influence as disparate as Warp’s back catalogue and Underworld.  The fusion of these two sounds – R&B’s melody and sexuality, electronic music’s complexity and, especially, the bass - heavy sound design of Mullarney’s influences (“Bass is key to our music,” he enthuses, “big, thunderous rap bass”) – would provide a blueprint for Beacon’s own sound: there’s a duality at play here, an idea of something dark lurking beneath a sleek veneer, a sense of latent conflict and uncertain resolution.)

( ;D --> Guy Gerber has always been comfortable as an outlier. From being the rock kid at the rave, to the Israeli DJ on the European club circuit, to the electronic producer with a fetish for live instruments, he tends to skirt the edge of whatever scene he's in. It's a position that suits him well––so far it's led to dozens of lush, melodic records, an ever-evolving live act and his own label, Supplement Facts. This nonconformist attitude, combined with the emotional content of his art (so rare in today's electronic music), explains how Gerber keeps his audience locked in, be it on record or on stage.)

As its main producer, singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist, Reznor is the only official member of Nine Inch Nails and remains solely responsible for its direction. Nine Inch Nails' music straddles a wide range of genres. After recording a new album, Reznor usually assembles a live band to perform with him. Rites
subtextrecordings.net/SUBCD004.html
soundcloud.com/experimedia/paul-jebanasam-rites-album
( :D --> With the scope of modern composition, the ferocity of metal, and the starkness of electronic music at its bleakest, Paul Jebanasam's debut full-length on his own Subtext imprint is a savage and intimidating creature. This awe-inspiring presence is only superseded by the deft, mult-dimensional compositions that make up "Rites." Though rooted in the language of electronic music, the difference between this album and those usually tagged with that genre is a vast chasm in both vision and execution as "Rites" is more akin to Ben Frost's "Theory of Machines" or Deaf Center's "Owl Splinters." The highpoints are many - from the string-imbued "Rites III" to the static-drenched epic "Rites IV" - but Jebanasam's best moment is the album's second track. "Rites II" is a menacing thriller of a song that roils to a blistering peak of distortion blasts and throbbing sub-bass and leaves the listener battered and wanting more. As a debut, "Rites" is beyond impressive. - Ryan Potts, Experimedia.)
