Flavor of the Week #31

.
Gary Numan
www.numan.co.uk
( ;D --> One of the founding fathers of synth pop, Gary Numan’s influence extends far beyond his lone American hit, “Cars,” which still stands as one of the defining new wave singles. That seminal track helped usher in the synthpop era on both sides of the Atlantic, especially his native England, where he was a genuine pop star and consistent hitmaker during the early ’80s. Even after new wave had petered out, Numan’s impact continued to make itself felt; his dark, paranoid vision, theatrically icy alien persona, and clinical, robotic sound were echoed strongly in the work of many goth rock and (especially) industrial artists to come.)

Multiple Man
www.facebook.com/multipleman/
( ;D --> New Metal, by Australian identical twin duo Multiple Man, has a lightness often absent from an otherwise harsh genre, boasting luxe melodies silky synths. With electronic choir voices that undulate over Sean Campion’s mixed-down vocals, “Power Fantasy” is pure nostalgic greatness, showcasing a dance sensibility that echoes the hot-blooded nature of mid-’80s Cabaret Voltaire. Complex, dexterous, dreamy, and hazy, it will make night crawlers want to emerge from their cavernous spaces and feel the golden warmth of the sun.)

The KLINIK
www.dirkivens.com/
markburghgraeve.wixsite.com/the-klinik
( ;D --> When Marc Verhaeghens and Dirk Ivens formed under the “The Klinik”-moniker more than 30 years ago, they created an all-new subgenre of electronic music with their enthralling mix of cold, harsh, sequencer-dominated sounds, watered down arrangements, minimalist lyrics and a distinctive, hissing vocal style. Floor fillers, like “Memories”, “Moving Hands” or “Black Leather” are still standard repertory in most underground clubs around the world and the group’s bare-bones-no-nonsense Industrial-sound is an important inspiration for aspiring groups to this day.)

Suicide Commando

www.myspace.com/suicidecommando
( ;D --> For over twenty years, Industrial experimentalist aka Suicide Commando has carried the dark electro heritage of acts like Klinik, Front 242 and Skinny Puppy in its heart and musical soul. Bearing these influences on his sleeve Van Roy turned these inspirations into a superb high-octane and highly aggressive, danceable EBM-industrial / dark electro hybrid aiming straight for the club-dancefloors. Over the years Suicide Commando bombed us with numerous clubhits like See you in hell, Desire, Hellraiser, Love breeds suicide, Cause of death:suicide, Bind torture kill … which turned Suicide Commando into one of the dark underground's most beloved dance acts of the last decade. Bombast, extreme power and a critical view on today's society.)

( ;D --> "Two handsome german boys" making in-your-face electro that's as much punk as it is pop. Call it the neu neue deutsche Welle. Melodys drill themselves inside the head, beats forge ahead as piercing vocals meet lovingly produced, minimalistic musical details. Though definitly influenced by 80's New Wave, NDW and Punk, Schwefelgelb transfer these old cliches into something very new via some razor-sharp progressive sounds)

( ;D --> After studying the people of earth for many years the Exaltics came to our planet in 2006 to transmit their message to the people. Here they created their own platform: "solaronemusic" for their final mission. Whilst being amongst us they built up connections with people that understood the exaltic mother tongue. Collaboration partners like Z-bop, Transient Force, Bunker and Last Known Trajectory are examples of home bases on earth.)
Das Heise Experiment 2 - The Prequel

solaronemusic.bandcamp.com/album/das-heise-experiment-2-the-prequel
( ;D --> The Exaltics are back with new transmissions from their universe in form of the second part of "Das Heise Experiment". The first part from 2013 on Abstract Acid will see his follow up end of 2017 on 2xLP inclusive a Comic book about the story of the Heise Experiment. This amazing looking shape picture disc, developed with the dutch artist Godspill aka Mehdi Rouchiche, is "The Prequel" release and sees The Exaltics in assault mode. Side A brings a stomper in typical exaltics style with deep strings and a pumping bassline like an alien invasion which is on course to earth. Side B begins with a cryptic alien speech signal transmitted direct from the universe whilst the second track is a collaboration track with non other than Dopplereffekt´s Rudolf Klorzeiger.)

JOBE

( ;D --> Born in Newcastle in the North of England, a place steeped in dance music heritage, JOBE was initiated into the club scene at an early age. Despite 'getting involved' most weekends, and surrounding himself with other music heads, it wasn't until his close friend was given turntables for Christmas that he realized he wanted to embark on a career in music. Many years later, with countless hours of vinyl hunting under his belt, he was DJing in the local bars and clubs of Leicester where he attended university. Despite enjoying his years in Leicester, recognizing it as the place he truly evolved musically, he longed for more and decided to take the right steps to progress further in the scene. JOBE wanted to pursue the full time career, however he realized that the scene had evolved over recent years, and in order to play at the more prestigious venues it was vital to have a strong output as a producer, as well as a DJ.)

( ;D --> Burial is an electronic musician from South London. His eponymous debut album was released in 2006 to critical acclaim. The Wire magazine named it their album of the year and it came fifth in the Mixmag 2006 Album of the Year list. On Friday, September 28th 2007, a new Burial album was announced, and Untrue was released 6 weeks later on November 5th. Although both albums have been met with much critical acclaim, Burial remained anonymous until August 2008, stating in a past interview that “only five people know I make tunes”. In February 2008, The Independent reported that Burial was an alumnus of south London’s Elliott School named William Bevan (another alumnus, Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard, said in 2006 that Burial was in the year above him). The school’s alumni also include Kieran Hebden aka Four Tet, with whom Bevan has collaborated.)
